This Privacy Policy describes how Earthbound Tarot (“the App”) collects, uses, and discloses information, and the rights and choices available to users.

The questions you type. When you ask for a Classic reading, an Advanced spread, or a message in AI Tarot Chat, the text you write is sent to OpenAI so a reading can be written for it. We do not keep a copy. We have no server and no database.
We do not ask for your name, email address, phone number, location, contacts, photos, or any account credentials. The app has no login.
Advertising identifier. Google AdMob, our advertising partner, uses your device’s advertising ID (the Android Advertising ID, or the Identifier for Advertisers on iOS) to select and measure ads. This identifier is controlled by you and can be reset or limited in your device settings.
Standard ad request data. When an ad is requested, Google receives the technical information any ad request carries: approximate location derived from IP address, device type and operating system, and general ad interaction data. We do not receive this information ourselves; it goes to Google.
The app keeps a small amount of data in your phone’s local storage. It is never transmitted anywhere, and it is deleted when you uninstall the app:

Readings are generated by OpenAI using their API. When you ask a question:

OpenAI states that data submitted through their API is not used to train their models by default. We do not control OpenAI’s retention practices.
Users should not submit sensitive personal information — including health, financial, or government identification data, or information concerning other identifiable individuals — within question text. The App does not filter or redact submitted text; it is transmitted to OpenAI as entered.
If the app cannot reach OpenAI, it falls back to a reading assembled offline from the card meanings built into the app. In that case nothing leaves your device at all.
Earthbound Tarot is free and supported by advertising through Google AdMob.
Google may use the advertising identifier and ad request data to show you personalised ads. Google’s handling of this data is described here:
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, the app shows a consent form (Google’s User Messaging Platform) before personalised ads are served. You may decline personalised advertising and continue using every feature of the app; you will simply see non-personalised ads instead. Residents of certain US states are shown an equivalent choice.
Certain advertisements are optional and user-initiated: a user may elect to view a video advertisement to obtain an additional reading. Viewing is voluntary. Declining does not remove access to readings already delivered, and the daily allowance of free readings renews irrespective of advertisement views.
Earthbound Tarot is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA/UK), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us at the address above and we will address it.
The app is rated for a general teen-and-above audience. Tarot readings are offered for reflection and entertainment.
Advertising identifier. You can reset it or opt out of personalised ads at any time:
Ad consent (EEA/UK/CH). You may change your consent choice from the consent form shown by the app.
Your locally stored data. Uninstalling the app deletes everything it has stored on your device, including saved readings and your onboarding state.
Submitted questions. We do not retain question text and therefore hold no such data to delete. Requests concerning data held by OpenAI or Google should be directed to those parties using the contact methods in their respective policies, linked above.
The app holds no account and no password. Requests to OpenAI are made over encrypted HTTPS connections. Data stored on your device is protected by your device’s own security. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
The app is available internationally. Because readings are generated by OpenAI and ads are served by Google, your question text and ad request data may be processed on servers located outside your country, including in the United States. By using the app you understand that this processing takes place.
If you are in the EEA or UK, the legal bases we rely on are your consent (for personalised advertising) and our legitimate interest in providing the reading you have asked for.

We do not use analytics, crash reporting, social media SDKs, or any other tracking services.
If this policy changes we will update the date at the top of this page. Material changes will be reflected in an app update. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the revised policy.
